Thalia Spanish Theatre is known for its artistic and managerial excellence.
Our more than 100 productions have been acclaimed by audiences and critics receiving 120 AWARDS , among them 80 from ACE, the Association of Critics of Entertainment, an organization for the Spanish-language press in New York.  We also have won the 1989 and 1997 ENCORE AWARDS of the Arts and Business Council.
Our proudest honor is the 1997 NEW YORK STATE GOVERNOR’S ARTS AWARD.

We won the 2002 ACE Awards for Best Musical Production (ALL THAT TANGO/TODO TANGO) and Best Direction for Angel Gil Orrios (BRAKE FOUR HEARTS (& PUT IN REVERSE)/CUATRO CORAZONES CON FRENO Y MARCHA ATRAS); we received a total of 12 nominations.  We also received two HOLA Awards in 2002. 

We also won the 2003 HOLA awards for Best Drama Production (THE ONE-EYED MAN IS KING/EL TUERTO ES REY); Best Director for Angel Gil Orrios (THE ONE-EYED MAN IS KING); Best Actress for Soledad López (WE WOMEN DO IT BETTER/ NOSOTRAS LO HACEMOS MEJOR); Best Actor for Leo Vilar (THE ONE-EYED MAN IS KING); and Special Recognition for Merel Juliá (WE WOMEN DO IT BETTER).

We have received numerous Citations of Honor, Proclamations, and Resolutions from Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Queens Borough President Claire Shulman, former Governor Mario Cuomo, both houses of the New York State Legislature, and the New York City Council.
