Thalia Spanish Theatre is known for its artistic and managerial excellence.  Our more than 160 productions have been acclaimed by audiences and critics.  We have received 153 AWARDS , among them the 2010 HISPANIC LEADERSHIP AWARD, the 2009 MAYOR'S AWARD FOR ARTS & CULTURE, the 1997 NEW YORK STATE GOVERNOR'S ARTS AWARD, the 1989 and 1997 ENCORE AWARDS from the Arts and Business Council, and 95 from ACE, the Association of Critics of Entertainment, an organization for the Spanish-language press in New York. 

Our most recent honors are the 2010 ACE Awards for Best Musical, and Artistic Achievement for Angel Gil Orrios, and 5 HOLA Awards, including two for Best Musical and Artistic Achievement for Maestro Raul Jaurena.  Maestro Jaurena's compositions for our 2005 musical, TE AMO TANGO, recorded live in our theatre and released on CD by Soundbrush Records, won the 2007 LATIN GRAMMY for BEST TANGO ALBUM.

We have received numerous Citations of Honor, Proclamations, and Resolutions from Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Queens Borough Presidents Helen Marshall and Claire Shulman, former Governor Mario Cuomo, both houses of the New York State Legislature, and the New York City Council.
