DIVAS DE ESPAÑA
with
INMA HEREDIA

Singer INMA HEREDIA from Seville, Spain,
will pay a tribute concert to beloved DIVAS:
LOLA FLORES, SARA MONTIEL, ROCIO JURADO and CHARO

*A hilarious musical revue about what it really takes to be a Diva*

Join us for an evening filled with laughter, music and dance as we celebrate the legendary Divas de España / Spanish Divas.

Inma Heredia will enthusiastically transport us in time for a unique experience and one that will leave us smiling.

Synopsis:
The Queen of Spanish comedy in New York celebrates the goddesses of yesteryear and their music that inspired her obsession with acting, singing and dancing. From classic chanteuse Rocio Jurado and the icy silver screen glamour of Sara Montiel, to the coquettish flamboyance of Charo and the flamenco tour de force of Lola Flores, this is Inma's passionate tribute to the extraordinary women who fueled her own personal journey towards becoming a Spanish Diva of comedy, song and dance herself. Performed in English with Spanish songs

Written and Performed by Inma Heredia
Directed by Adolfo Vazquez
Stylist: Paolo Di Valdi
Stage Manager: Mandy Decker
Publicist: Lola Yen
Spanish Divas Fan Club President: Jimmy Rodriguez

DOMINICAN FOLK MUSIC
with

IRKA MATEO Folk Quartet

IRKA MATEO: Voice and Percussion
PLINIO DE LA CRUZ: Guitar
EDWIN CAMILO: Bass
JOEL GUZMAN: Percussion

The IRKA MATEO Folk Quartet will showcase Dominican folk songs passed generation to generation in the countryside of her natal Dominican Republic and still sang today at the Popular Religion Celebrations.  This is a joyous concert intended to make you dance on your seat!

IRKA MATEO is a Dominican singer and songwriter from the Dominican Republic. She sings Afro/ Dominican folk music and writes “Mestizo Music,” accordion and guitar-lead songs inspired by the indigenous/Afro/European folk traditions of her native country, as well as the wider Caribbean and Latin America.

IRKA traveled for ten years in the rural areas of the Dominican Republic documenting more than thirteen genres of folk musical traditions--unknown to the wider Dominican culture. As a result, her extensive field research was recognized by the Grammy Foundation, which awarded a grant, allowing her research to be completed and donated, as an archive, to the Dominican National Archives as well as to the Ethnomusicology Archives at Wesleyan University in the United States.

She leads Irka Mateo y La Tirindanga, playing her original compositions and Irka Mateo Folk Quartet to play Afro/Indigenous Dominican music, adding guitar and bass to this percussion based genre.
